Rebecca Geller, Founding/Managing Partner


FullSizeRenderRebecca Geller is President/CEO of The Geller Law Group. She is a seasoned lawyer committed to providing affordable, high-quality legal services to businesses and families. In April 2015, The Washingtonian Magazine selected Rebecca as a “person we would like to have dinner with.” She has been in numerous tv interviews such as MSNBC Your Small Business and the Washington Business Report program to offer legal advice to entrepreneurs. Well known for her legal experience and activism, Rebecca was selected as a 2015 Rising Star Super Lawyer and was recognized by the Washington Post magazine for this award. In 2015, was interviewed by a multitude of news outlets including the WTOP Radio and The Washington Post for her leadership in drafting and successfully passing Virginia legislation that now makes it legal for a woman to breastfeed a child in public places. Rebecca is involved in the community as a lawyer and activist and regularly gives speeches and presentations to organizations and groups about legal issues impacting families, individuals, and business owners.

Before launching her own law firm in 2011, Rebecca worked as a corporate lawyer at a major international law firm representing Fortune 500 companies. Her experience is varied, including work with wills/trusts, corporate, trademark, family law, litigation, housing, political law, telecommunications, employment, and non-profits. Rebecca’s clients include families, individuals and businesses from all walks of life. She has vast experience working with businesses from all industries including restaurants, technology companies, internet start-ups, health and wellness businesses, medical practices, landscaping and home construction contractors, family care providers, media and communications firms, government contractors, mortgage companies, financial advisors, entertainment personalities, and everything in between.

While serving as chair of the Fairfax Bar Association’s Business Law Section, Rebecca received the 2013 “President’s Award.” She serves on a number of boards for non-profit organizations and regularly volunteers in the community. Every month, Rebecca teaches a seminar for the Small Business Development Center about the legal aspects of starting and running a successful business and counsels new entrepreneurs. In 2011, Rebecca was a leader of the Full Day Kindergarten campaign to bring full day kindergarten to 100% of Fairfax County schools. Rebecca received both a bachelors and law degree from American University in Washington, D.C. and was the first-ever student appointed to serve on the American University Board of Trustees. She lives in Fairfax Station with her husband Brad Cheney, their three young children Sam (age 6) and Noah (age 4), Emily (age 1), and Lucy, their wonderful labrador retriever. She is admitted to practice law in Virginia, D.C., and Maryland.

Maria Simon, Senior Partner

Maria Simon joins the firm after many years at a boutique litigation firm based in Washington, D.C. While Maria’s practice is quite versatile, Maria specializes in business law and litigation, where she has represented major corporations and small business entities alike. Maria has considerable experience in Federal District Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, Bankruptcy Court and State courts, appearing in court nationwide frequently on behalf of her clients. She has worked on many cases concerning complex contract interpretation, drafted appellate briefs, and has a number of favorable decisions published on Lexis exemplifying these achievements. In addition, Maria spearheads the firm’s Wills and Trust practice and its Divorce and Family Law practice, areas of the law that go hand in hand protecting families during stressful times.

Along with Maria’s zeal for the practice of law, Maria is an avid runner and yoga practitioner, loves cooking, and spending time with her three-year-old son and rescue dog at their home in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

Maria graduated cum laude from the Honors Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. Maria is active in the community, having served two years as General Counsel for the Taste of the South Charity, and currently serving as General Counsel for Crispus Attucks Development Corporation. She is admitted to practice law in Maryland Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Jennifer Gniady, Senior Attorney


Jennifer Gniady is a senior attorney with The Geller Law Group focused on working with small business, trademark and non-profit clients. Prior to joining our firm, she ran her own solo practice in Alexandria, VA representing small businesses and nonprofit organizations including trade associations, charities, schools, religious groups, and arts organizations and trade associations. Her interest in the nonprofit sector grew out of her previous career in publishing, where she edited publications about education, performing arts, health and science. She will bring her vast expertise to assist our firm’s trademark, non-profit, and small business clients with their contracts, employment matters, and other legal needs.
Jennifer is a cum laude graduate of Fordham Law School and received her bachelors from Syracuse University. Although a native of New Orleans and a long-time resident of New York City, Jennifer now lives in Alexandria, VA with her her husband and three children. She is active in the community and has chaired the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend.

Chantelle DiLorenzo, Of Counsel Attorney



Ms. DiLorenzo is an Of Counsel attorney who focuses her practice on legal estate planning matters. Prior to joining The Geller Law Group in 2015, she ran her own estate planning law firm, DiLorenzo Law PLLC since 2010. Chantelle works with individuals to create essential planning documents tailored to each client’s objective. She represents clients in court at probate and guardianship proceedings. Ms. DiLorenzo is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and received a bachelor degree from Indiana University.

Sophia Chase Munson, Associate Attorney



Sophia Chase Munson is an Associate Attorney with a focus on small business, nonprofit business, intellectual property and estate planning matters. Prior to joining The Geller Law Group, as a post-graduate fellow for Cultural Heritage Partners, PLLC, Sophia assisted small businesses and nonprofits with organizational documents, intellectual property rights, and tax requirements. She also interned with The Scowcroft Group, a business advisory firm, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she gained insight into world of corporate law and experience in regulatory, compliance, antitrust, and anti-money laundering matters.

Before attending law school, Sophia worked as a legal analyst for King Street Capital Management, L.P., where she drafted confidentiality agreements, waivers of liability, vendor agreements, and engagement letters.

Sophia’s varied business background makes her a great resource for our small business clients. When she is not drafting contracts, Sophia can be found cooking, reading and spending time with her family in Chapel Hill, NC.

Sophia graduated cum laude from William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, VA, and was an Echols Scholar from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Sophia served as the managing editor for the William & Mary Business Law Review, and she is admitted to practice law in North Carolina and the District of Columbia.


Kathleen Schwarz, Associate Attorney

Kathleen Schwarz is an Associate Attorney with a focus on litigation and trademark practice. Prior to joining The Geller Law Group, Kathleen gained significant federal and state litigation experience at a boutique Washington, DC firm, where she specialized in resolving clients’ trademark, copyright, privacy, and small business disputes. While working in law school, Kathleen developed a wide range of skills assisting small and large companies, individuals, nonprofits, labor unions, and federal agencies with employment, compliance, intellectual property, legislative, bankruptcy, and family matters.

Originally from southwestern Pennsylvania, Kathleen now calls Washington, DC home. In her spare time, Kathleen can be found training for marathons, exploring the city’s neighborhoods, and spending time with her husband Tim and chocolate lab Zoey. Kathleen earned her Juris Doctor at the American University Washington College of Law and graduated cum laude from Villanova University. She is licensed to practice in Virginia.

Crystal Martinez, Senior Paralegal


Crystal C. Martinez assists our clients in all aspects of creating wills and trusts, probate matters, litigation matters, family matters, business matters, and trademark issues. With over 10 years of experience in the paralegal field, she has vast experience in assisting clients with their legal questions and trouble-shooting problems. Before joining The Geller Law Group, she worked as a senior paralegal at Patton Boggs, a major international law firm. She has experience in many types of law including litigation, corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Martinez has a bachelors of science degree and paralegal certificate approved by the American Bar Association. Crystal lives in Arlington, VA with her husband and toddler son Isaac. She enjoys traveling, volunteering in the community, and serves on the facilities and grounds committee for her condominium association.

Betsy Charlesworth, Administrative Coordinator


Betsy Charlesworth serves as the firm’s administrative coordinator to assist the legal team to provide top-notch legal services to the firm’s clients. She previously worked for a Non-Profit Student Loan Company for 14 years in Vermont before moving to Virginia and becoming a stay-at-home mom to her youngest son. After he headed to Kindergarten, she decided to pursue a career with the Geller Law Group that would give her the ability to balance work and family. Betsy notes, “The Geller Law Group is a perfect fit for my needs.” She has a bachelors Degree in Education and lives in Burke VA with her husband and 3 children. She loves to travel, run, and visit all the fun things in the DC, Virginia area.
